Criterion is releasing ‘Citizen Kane’ and five other classics on 4K Blu-ray

The criterion unveiled its first 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray outings with a slate of six films including Citizen Kane, the company threatening II, the piano, the Mulholland Dr., the red shoes and the night hard. The new outings will give movies of movies to see some of these films with the highest details of all time, even during their theatrical shopping.

Criterion notes that the masterpiece of Kane of 1941 of Orson Welles Welles was his first Laserdisc publication 37 years ago. “He now joins the library after a long absence, making his first appearance in 4K Ultra HD,” wrote the criterion in his blog. The other versions represent an eclectic variety of periods ranging from the 1940s with red shoes, the 1960s (night lasts day) to the 90s and Aughts with the company Threate II, the route of Mulholland and the piano)

Each title will come in a combo pack including 4K UHD and 1080p Blu-ray versions, as well as popular special criteria features on each film. Some movies will also be available in Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos, although the criterion has not yet said which.

The new 4K UHD versions of criteria will probably represent the best way to watch classic movies at home. If you do not need the super virgin quality, however, it launched the Streaming Service Criteria in 2019 and now offers “1,000 classic and contemporary important films”, according to the site.
