Robin Roberts stole a show at Espys on Wednesday night with an emotional speech after winning Arthur Ashe Courage Award. Roberts, the loved “good morning” anchor who started his career at ESPN, announced that he won his fight with MDS or myelodysplastic syndrome, which was diagnosed with last year and needed a bone marrow transplant. Roberts also survived the fight with breast cancer five years ago. Roberts began his career in 1983 as an anchor sports and reporter for Wdam-TV in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He joined ESPN as a sportscaster in February 1990, where he lived until 2005. He became famous in SportsCenter for his slogan, “Continue with you a bad self!” Roberts began working for ABC news, especially as a superior reporter, for good morning in June 1995. In 2007 Roberts was diagnosed with the early shape of breast cancer. He underwent surgery on August 3, and in January 2008 he had completed eight chemotherapy treatments, followed by 6½ weeks of radiation treatment. Over the years, Roberts worked at ESPN and Good Morning America, contributing to both programs. During that time, he was on duty especially as anchor news at GMA. In 2005, Roberts were promoted to a good American co-anchor. In December 2009, Roberts joined George Stephanopoulos as a co-anchor GMA after Diane Sawyer went to Anchor Abc World News.
