When Google has greeted a large unveiling for its new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro – doing so via a Twitter thread – it did not really detail their cameras, which left us in the dark on this department as well as many more.
Enter Android 12, however, as the fourth beta version of the upcoming Google software comes from rolling and, by XDA developers, the new version of the camera application contains some details of the pixel 6 in the code.
Apparently, the code chain says “gn1_wide_p21” – the logic is that GN1 is Samsung’s 50mp camera that has been used in some vivo phones, while “wide” refers to the angle of the lens (most smartphones have Large angle lenses on their main cameras) and ‘P21’ indicates that it is for the pixel phone of 2021 – the pixel 6 (and probably pro).
These are the best pixel phones

The iPhone 13 soon arrives too
So, to decode this, the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro apparently at the same time 50mp’s main cameras – they would be the first handset outside China to use this particular sensor manufactured by Samsung.
It’s a big leap of the 12MP cameras that we saw on the previous pixel phones and that Google does not bother the pixel pixel breed of other brands will also participate.
Analysis: Underload of information
Google Pixel phones have strange pre-release cycles.
The pixel handsets are known for their high volume of leaks, with as many rumors and news information circulating before release as a major Samsung Galaxy or iPhone device. We therefore know much about most pixels before becoming official.
But now, the pixel 6 is actually official, and for some reason, we always know anything about it. The company did not inform the camera specifications, screen size, or resolution, battery size, and charge speed or even the price. We are in the dark on most parts of the phone.
It’s weird that we had in a sense to know more about a phone before launch only after this one, even if this early information comes from leaks and therefore a little doubtful.
We should not need to rely on the code in beta software to find specifications for the phones already unveiled, and it does not make much sense why Google opted to unveil the phone in the way it has do.
Let’s hope it soon, the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will be released so we can test the phones and understand what they are like. Until then, we will have to continue digging.
